Using arts activities to explore issue-based work with young people

This workshop on Thursday 6 December, 1pm-4pm at GMYN, Green Fish Resource Centre, will give youth and community workers and some simple arts activities that they can use to explore any issue or discussion topic with young people.

The workshop will cover art, creative writing and drama activities. It will look at ways the arts can be used as a tool for young people’s reflection and self-development and for starting difficult conversations. It will also give attendees a chance to reflect on how they can incorporate more arts into their current practice.

This training is perfect for beginners and non-artists, or for those wishing to refresh their artistic skills.

The training will be delivered by Quina Chapman, Programme Coordinator at GMYN. Quina has been part of the GMYN team since 2013 and she has over 10 years’ experience as a community artist, using drama and art in mental health, community and youth work settings. She is also an award-winning theatre maker.
