The Manchester College Student Placements

Work experience placements provide equal opportunities for young people from all areas of society to access the workplace and kick-start their careers. The Manchester College are currently seeking placements for Level 2 and Level 3 students in the areas of IT and Creative Media, and other areas of the curriculum. Placements typically last for two days (Level 2) and five days (Level 3). This can be completed as one placement or can be split over several weeks.

The Manchester College recognises the importance of work experience placements and has made the process as simple as possible for employers. There are a number of simple questions to answer in the first instance that form our risk assessment. At the end of the placement employers provide a short evaluation of how the student has performed.

Students have worked in a number of roles and have helped with tasks including the creation of promotional materials such as posters, assisting members of the public with computers/IT skills, creating content such as blog posts, social media posts, photos and video footage, and updating websites. Some of our advanced IT students have also helped with web design and coding tasks. These placements have been extremely beneficial, enabling students to gain an introduction to the world of work, improve their communication, teamwork, and course-specific skills, and provide experience for their CVs and university applications, etc.
