Artswork are pleased to announce their popular ‘Mentoring the next Creative Generation’ one day training course is coming to HOME, Manchester on the Thursday 12 June 2018, 10am-4.15pm. This course is ideal for heritage, arts and cultural professionals that are looking for tools to encourage growth and development in young people.
Mentoring young creatives (both formally and informally) is vital to Artswork’s work with young people. Excellent mentoring enhances skills through supportive relationships, encourages space for self-directed learning and helps shape behaviours which in turn encourage growth and development in others.
Following a successful three-year programme (Stepping Up: Young Leaders
Training), Artswork, Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership Trust (OYAP) and Oxford Brookes University have teamed up to bring you this course. Exploring the principles of mentoring, you will be equipped with the tools to support the next generation of creative practitioners and leaders.
You’re looking for practical ways to develop and nurture the skills, knowledge and experience of emerging creatives in the early stages of their careers.
You will gain:
• A practical framework for best practice mentoring
• Knowledge about the principles which shape great mentoring
• Personalised mentoring advice
• Tips on how to plan and evaluate a mentee’s development, as well as your own practical mentoring techniques
