Sporting Equals is a national organisation that work to support diversity and cohesion within sport. Sporting Equals is working on an exciting project called Breaking Boundaries in Manchester (targeting Newton Heath) this a new cricket and cohesion project funded by Spirit of 2012 and supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board. The project aims to unite communities utilising the power of cricket.
A large part of the programme is empowering young people to be ‘community champions’
Sporting Equals are hosting a community champions leadership event in Manchester at the Velodrome on 17 November. Sporting Equals will be inviting a range of young people who will be ‘Community Champions’ for the programme and they will be provided with inspiring leadership speeches and workshops about making a difference in the communities and key messages around cohesion.
As a result of attendance organisations the champions are connected to will access an up to £1,500 grant to support you in putting on a cohesion and cricket event or project.
This is an exciting new project that will open further doors for young people, communities and make a long lasting difference.
