Greater Manchester Youth Network are once again offering the ‘Intro to Youth Work’ training programme. There are six themed training events which are still open for bookings and cover areas of youth work basics. All training is taking place Thursdays 5.30pm-8.30pm at GMYN, 27 Ardwick Green North, M12 6FZ and is free for Manchester volunteers. Each training event is a standalone session. You do not need to attend each one.
Thu 9 Nov Intro to Youth Work Values
Exploring the definitions of youth work and how to embed the underpinning values when working with young people.
Thu 16 Nov ‘Conversations’
Looking at how youth workers build responsive relationships with young people and how boundaries can be identified and managed.
Thu 23 Nov Group Work Skills
This is a practical session looking at what groups are and how to work with young people in groups. You’ll leave with learning to take forward and a range of examples to use in practice
Thu 30 Nov Understanding and Meeting Needs
Exploring youth workers roles as critical and responsive practitioners by understanding young people’s needs and knowing how to signpost to further support.
Thu 7 Dec Planning, Recording and Monitoring
This session will offer insight into the importance and relevance of planning, recording and monitoring youth work and ways to do this.
Thu 14 Dec Measuring Impact
This session will explore what is meant by evaluation, reflective practice and impact, using the example of the Most Significant Change model.
